IT in the Food & Beverage Industry
September 2005
The increasingly consolidated and demanding retail sector, the food safety crises of years past and the resulting legislation are all strong drivers of IT investment in the Belgian food and beverage industry. The majority of companies in this sector consider their ERP as their most critical IT system and their current IT priority. Looking to the future, food & beverage companies will be investing in better supply chain and distribution management, not only in the chain under their direct control but also in the parts that extend into their customers' operations. This presents a new set of challenges for IT directors and IT suppliers, ones that have less to do with technology but more with project management across multiple parties.
